CAMPER TOGETHER: COLLABORATIVE DESIGN

With the explosion of the web 2.0 collaborative work seems to have been discovered now, but nothing as far from the reality. Though it is true that Internet has facilitated the collaboration between professionals of new areas such as research and development of software, in the world of fashion and design, collaborations are usual years ago. The iconic collections of H&M with Lagerfeld, Lanvin or Versace, the latter will come to the shops worldwide on November 17, are only an example.

The Majorcan firm Camper bets for years for the collaborative work as a way to renew ideas and to differentiate from the competition. Through the Camper Togetherproject, recognized architects, artists and industrial designers have been invited to collaborate on the design of its shops and shoes, with great results.

In 2006 the designer of Madrid Jaime Hayon was the first charged with the task of designing a Camper shop under the concept Together in Foubert’s Place (London). He was joined after by architects and interior designers of international reputation as Alfredo Häberli, Konstantin Grcic, Tokujin Yoshioka and Benedetta Tagliabue, authoress of the Camper shop opened in Paseo de Gracia on December 2010.Opposite to the ” cloning of shops “, prevalent trend in the retail sector, each Camper establishment has his own style and personality, according to the city or neighborhood where it is located.

Camper Together has also given birth to collections of shoes with the seal of Bernhard Willhelm, Veronique Branquinho, Romain Kremer or Jasper Morrison that in some cases have become true classics of the brand. Collaborative design works and promises to give good results to Camper.
