Occupied Pleasures
Everyday life in Palestine. An exhibition by Tanya Habjouqa.
Tanya Habjouqa’s Occupied Pleasures takes a darkly humorous look at everyday life in the occupied territories, in stark contrast to the reportages we’re used to seeing from the area.
After 48 years of occupation, the more than 4million residents of Gaza, the West Bank and East Palestine try and go about their daily lives, despite living in a context marked by conflict, political and economic upheaval and with their movements severely limited.
Taken between 2009 and 2015, the photos show a need to change the way we look at this troubled area of the world, a perspective that deservedly won Habjouqa the World Press Photo award in 2014.
Until August 30th at Palau Robert.
