An Occasion for Catalan Films
Catalunya über alles! is the first in a series of films made in Catalonia to be screened next month at the CX La Pedrera.
Cinema can offer so much that sometimes the made-in-USA fireworks don’t let us appreciate home-grown cinema. Auteur cinema that tastes better because go through it slowly and enjoy every little flavour. Another negative point is that films are often shown in cinemas just a few days, sometimes they don’t even leave the festivals where they were presented.
Next month, the series Cinema Català en Projecció will offer the latest blockbuster films from our land and give them the attention they deserved in the first place. In addition, we are invited to discuss their creation process with the directors and other team members that contributed to the production. Excellent reasons to take part in the event, don’t you think?
The series opens today with Catalunya über alles! by Ramon Térmens and starring Joel Joan. The film is a prize-winner at Málaga and San Sebastián film festivals. It centres on immigration and intolerance with the stories of a former inmate, an unemployed immigrant and an entrepreneur.
The screenings will continue with La Vida Sublime by Daniel Villamediana, Caracremada by Lluís Galter and Eva by Kike Maíllo. A total of 4 films that will make us feel a very wide range of feelings with all their nuances.
