REMOTE CORNERS 2

This is a corner to imagine how from their balconies they must have admired 20th century Passeig de Gràcia full of trams and bicycles.

The highlight of this corner is the entrance, and its facade, but if we succumb to his charms and we decided to go in, all the building’s charm will be revealed, a building of diverse styles, but classified as neo-medieval. This classification doesn’t mean it hasn’t got modernist touches, which is why it’s building number 55 in Barcelona’s Modernist route. This house built in the early 20th century is a product of blending, overlaying and includes features from different stages of architecture’s development; the architect probably wanted to pass on all his knowledge in it.

The inside staircase is worthy of its history of dukes and duchesses, letting our imagination fantasise about who might have gone down them. Who might have gone home in his carriage to this exuberant building in the city. Who might have let the train of her dress follow her down those stairs. Who might have walked deep in thought along its hallways. Who could not help but look up into the interior dome. Who might have secretly cherished the stunning wooden entry-door. Or who might have come out onto the balcony to enjoy the views of the Passeig de Gràcia from another time, full of trams and bicycles.

Little remains to be revealed of this palace, it’s up to you to find out where it is, to go up to its impressive facade and through the front door, taking a look around and letting your imagination run wild like I’m doing right now from there.

Once again I encourage you to leave your comment below and give your thoughts so that we can give each other clues about this wonderful place.
