“L’AVAR” arrives to Teatre Goya

'L'Avar' arrives to Teatre Goya with Sergi Belbel's version.

Do not miss from February 9 to May 11, in Teatre Goya L’avar, the story of Harpagon,  a widower and terribly miser who wants to marry her daughter Elisa with Anselm, an old and rich man, ready to take her without a dowry, but Elisa wants to marry with Valeri, who has managed to enter in Harpagon’s house hired as supervisor. At the same time, Harpagon and his son, Cleante, compete for the love of Mariana. To help his master, the servant of Cleante, Escletxa, steals the gold of Harpagon. Then, Valeri recognized his love for Elisa.

This traditional resource of confession undoes the climax of all the intrigue: Anselm finds out that Mariana and Valeri are the children who believed that were lost in a shipwreck. Finally, both young couples can marry and Harpagon will be satisfied of retrieving his gold.

In this comedy, Molière uses all the humor resources: the comic character of Harpagon and, of course, the comedy of words and gestures, inherited by the farce and the dance that the author knew very well. In addition to succeed, love and youth laugh at authority that wants to marry against their wishes.
