A year of changes

It seems impossible that the year 2013 exceeds the year of frenetic changes, collaborations, trends, campaigns and demands that we have just experienced.

After living 366 days full of projects, campaigns, collections, shootings, exchanges, collaborations, fights and lots of action! We begin the 2013 with a review of all what has happened over the last year.

The changes of chair, jacket and workshop have characterized 2012. Raf Simons and Hedi Slimane have staged their own battle of style with their first collections with Dior and YSL respectively, making both of them a before and after in the history of the brands. Slimane risked even to the point of changing the name and the logo of the French house and moving the design department to Los Ángeles.

Alexander Wang took the place of Nicolas Ghesquiére at Balenciaga. Christopher Kane left Versus. Derek Lam left Tod’s. Stefano Pilati, the victim of YSL, moved to Ermenegildo Zegna. A great sickness that never ends. Marni was instruduced in the empire of Diesel from Renzo Rosso. And we celebrated the anniversaries of Lanvin, Moncler, Lacoste, Valentino, Ray Ban, Tiffany & Co. and some others.

2012 has also been the year of the collaborations. An endless list of which we highlight Gala González for Mango Touch, Carine Roitfeld for MAC, Scott Schuman for Coach, Thakoon for Nars, Chistopher Raeburn for Levi’s, Anna Dello Russo and Maison Martin Margiela for H&M, even David Beckham has partnered with the Swedish brand.

As for trends, in 2012 we have surrendered to the new trends without leaving aside the basics. The burgundy and the military style have been a sure hit, peplum silhouette, geometric lines, the animal print in all of its versions, the brightness of fluorine next to pastel colors, sweatshirts, coats, leather, a gothic touch, B&W, long gloves and bright red lipstick. A year of contrasts, rhythm and breaking stereotypes. A year marked by the desire of overcoming the economic crisis that has brought back the DIY style.

Finally, the legal demands between Louboutin and Yves Saint Laurent, in the battle for the monopoly of the red sole that won the French shoemaker, have been the bitter taste event of the year. Gucci also received the “miserable” quantity of 4,66 million dollars after demanding Guess for the use of a very similar G logo.

Without a doubt, 2013 will have to work hard to achieve the same level of surprise as the year we have just experienced.
