Zadig&Voltaire, Let’s Rock!
Thierry Gillier and his "band" are tuning their guitars to take over number 73 in Passeig de Gràcia with their "rock chic" style. Who said rock was dead?
Some news sounds like the singing of angels, other news sounds more like the The Rolling Stones. Obviously, we prefer the latter by a mile. That’s why these days we’ve been going around liked crazed teenage groupies waiting for the opening of the new Zadig & Voltaire shop in Barcelona, in Passeig de Gràcia 73.
Thierry Gallier is grandson to one of the cofounders of Lacoste and his brand is one of the landmarks of a style: the “rock chic” style. It combines punk and rock’s though look with the most authentic Parisian glamour. A sophisticated evolution of the rocker style that we all know that has captivated musicians and celebrities such as Jamie Hince, Alison Mosshart, Sean Lennon, Charlotte Kemp Muhl, Mark Ronson and Joséphine de La Baume.
Leggings, skinny jeans, jackets and black leather trousers, metallic-look fabrics, boots with studs, T-shirts with black and white prints and the now famous skulls “made in” Zadig&Voltaire. All these are the trademarks of Passeig de Gràcia’s new rocking tenants.
While they’re making themselves at home, here is a video from the A/W 11-12 campaign in which top-model Erin Wasson collaborated both as a model and as a designer of some of the pieces in the women’s collection.
