Sardinia and Catalonia: sister terretories
The new photographic exhibition at the Palau Robert Catalanidade/Catalanidad reveals the hidden thread that ties together Sardinia and Catalonia.
It is at the very least unexpected to discover that Sardinia and Catalonia have got a lot more in common than a few letters in their names. They are two territories that despite being separated by more than 500km of sea they’ve got a past in common that reveals striking similarities in both history and culture.
The title of the exhibition Catalanidade/Catalanidad drops a few hints as to what we will find: n evident juxtaposition of images of markets, streets, festivals and traditional dances; all of them clearly proof of their common history that manages to merge and bring together Sardinia and Catalonia, and in particular, Cagliari and Barcelona.
The exhibition was made possible through the sponsorship of the Province of Cagliari, the support of the Palau Robert, and the extraordinary work of three Sardinian photographers: Gianluigi Becciu, Corrado Cabras and Marco De Aietti.
The opening act took place on Wednesday November 9th at 19:30 in Hall 2 of the Palau Robert. The event was attended by several personalities such as the Consul General of Italy in Barcelona, Daniele Perico, or the councilman of Culture of the Province of Cagliari, Francesco Siciliano, among others.
The exhibition is on from November 10th until November 23rd, so do not miss the opportunity to go. Sardinia has never been so close.
