How many books have we got in our home shelves and don’t have any utility? With this question, a group of people began Recicla Cultura (recycle culture), a campaign of Fundació Servei Solidari which its done every Sant Jordi and nowadays, is the fourth year.

An initiative that consists on encouraging people to give all the books they have already read to other people to enjoy them at a symbolic price on Sant Jordi’s day. A book that changes lives and contributes to turn a dream into an opportunity.

All the raised money will be used to finance more than 120 annual sociolinguistic and literacy courses of Fundació Servei Solidari teach for 10 years for people who have just arrived to the city and at risk of social exclusion. Knowledge and use of language is the first step to real and effective social inclusion.

How can you contribute? Very easy. You can take the books at the headquarters of the foundation, in C/Sant Antoni Abat, 61, open Monday to Thursday, from 9am to 2pm and 4pm to 8pm and Friday from 9am to 2pm. You have time until April 15.

But if you prefer other locations, they also have more collection points at Universitat Pompeu Fabra: Ciutadella Campus (Ramón Trias Fargas, 25-27), Comunicació-Poblenou Campus (Roc Boronat, 138), Universitari Mar Campus (Doctor Aiguader, 80) or at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Av. Diagonal, 649) until April 21.

The World Trade Center Alameda (Plaça de la Pau s/n, Cornellà de Llobregat) is another collection point as Crec Coworking (C/de Blesa, 27) from 8am to 9pm and Ulldecona STI Montsià (C/Major) in the afternoons until April 22.

More than 60 companies, universities and schools have already begun recycling culture. If you want to learn more about this campaign and discover another ways of collaborating, go into its official website.
