Hectic 20th Century Sculpture
The Fundació Suñol is opening the SCULPTURE/OBJECT exhibition showing the evolution of sculpture from early avant-grade until the 90s.
Some birthdays deserve more attention than others. The Fundació Suñol is now 5 years old and it’s celebrating with an exhibition worthy of being written in capital letters: SCULPTURE/OBJECT. A short trip through 20th-century sculpture from early avant-garde pieces to the most audacious ones from the 90s.
The exhibition consists of 36 pieces, some of which have never been shown to the public, taken from the Josep Suñol Collection. Chillida, Giacomo Balla, Pablo Gargallo, Julio González, Joan Miró, Jean Arp, Moisès Villèlia, Pep Duran, Manolo Valdés and Elizabeth Ballet are some of the 30 national and international artists whose works are on show at the exhibition. All of them are landmark references of the main art movements that came about from 1915 to 1997.
SCULPTURE/OBJECT is mainly concerned on the realm of three dimensions and aims give a timeline of sculpture’s evolution and to show the relationship between sculpture and objects as concepts that are opposite and synonymous at the same time.
The exhibition can be seen at the Fundació Suñol until September 1st.
