Do research! science workshop series
CX La Pedrera is offering a series of scientific workshops aimed at the educational community and the general public.
I remember when I was at school that teachers sometimes took us to a laboratory. Wow! How fascinating the world of genetics and research was, with all those test tubes and tweezers. How we loved wearing the white coat, right? And let’s not deny it, we’ve all got a microscope in a wardrobe somewhere from when we were younger and we let out imaginations run wild seeing bugs or anything else that moved across the other side of the lens.
If you are one of those nostalgic people, a CSI addict, or you simply are in love with all kinds of research, what CX La Pedrera has in store for you might prove a real find: Do Research!. Do Research! is a series of workshops where participants will experience what it is like to do research and will get to know the work being done today in the Barcelona Science Park (PBC) and the University of Barcelona (UB).
On Saturday November 19th, between 11:00 and 13:00, you will have the opportunity to put yourself in the shoes of a scientist through Bacterial Transformation, a workshop where you study a population of flies with cancer to see what mechanisms the disease triggers. And on Saturday, November 26th, the series will end with a final workshop (called Building protein) on the synthesis of a new drug that could be useful for treating Alzheimer’s.
Come researchers. Science needs us!
