Farewell to the front door, or maybe not …
On Sunday 25, polemics aside, "6 bulls, 6" will be fought in the Monumental to dismiss the runs in the city.
Barcelona, one of the most important bullrings in the distant 60′s, says goodbye to the bullfights at the hands of Juan Mora, José Tomás and Serafin Marin to deal with six bulls from the Pilar ranch to complete the celebrations of the Mercè.
The poster, designed by the Majorcan artist Miquel Barceló, is perhaps the last that will be released in the “lollipops” of the city. The work, which is not the first of the artist for bullfighting events (in 2007 illustrated the reappearance of José Tomás also in the Monumental), is not for sale and may only be seen in public places.
This is not the time to reflect on if bullfighting must be prohibited or not, each one has his opinion. The truth is that the Monumental modernist architecture, unique in our country, waits between sun and shadow the shouts of olé and white handkerchiefs, and will sleep with the uncertainty of whether eventually could be turned into a shopping mall as its neighbor the Arenas.
Nobody knows if the Constitutional will go against the rule of Catalonian Parliament, meanwhile,”que suenen los tercios”.
