Artisan Corner Tour at the Renovated Gucci Store
An event that has been bringing the artisanship of the brand's most renowned bags to its stores since 2009.
The Italian company founded over 90 years ago is back in Barcelona with more stamina than ever. After completely renovating its boutique in Passeig de Gràcia 76, designed by the firm’s Creative Director Frida Giannini, Gucci has organised a workshop of artisans who have come straight from Florence.
The Artisan Corner tour began in Naples in 2009 and after traveling through Europe, Japan, and the USA, it has come to Passeig de Gràcia. The tour offers a unique insight into the traditions that have distinguished Gucci throughout its history.
Inside the store customers witnessed the exquisite craftsmanship that is put into each and every article made by Gucci. You could see the evolution from the first sketches on the drawing board up to the final result. Four artisans worked step by step on all the highest quality materials to create some of the firm’s renowned handbags such as the Bamboo, the New Jackie, the New Pelham, and the G Wave. Hand-sewn handles, joining and preparing the materials, and printing the customer’s initials: the whole process in a day.
