The Awakening of the Casa Batlló
A videomapping will be projected onto the facade of Gaudí's house to mark the end of the celebrations for the 10 years of cultural visits to the Casa Batlló.
The year 2012 has been all about celebrations for one of the iconic buildings in Passeig de Gràcia and Barcelona. The Casa Batlló, a masterpiece of Gaudí’s modernist architecture, has been open to the public for 10 years. Celebrations with the public were in order, so various events and activities have been set up to lead up to the night of October 20 and 21, when a videomapping will be projected free for everyone.
The videomapping is titled “The Awakening of the Casa Batlló” and has been produced by the Nueveojos studio. It will bring to life all the symbols and their interpretations that inspired Gaudí to create such an exceptional facade. St. George’s dragon, Carnival masks, harlequins, creatures of the night… All of them awakened from their century-old slumber in a thrilling and amazing visual show that will be hosted by Andreu Buenfuente.
During its 10 years open to the public, the Casa Batlló has been visited by tens of thousands of people, has been proclaimed World Heritage Site by UNESCO and has received, among others, the Europa Nostra award in recognition of the dedication and conservation of architectural heritage. They are important milestones that it now wants to celebrate with all Barcelona giving them a show that is going to be magical.
Share your Photos of the Videomapping on Instagram
The Casa Batlló and Barcelona’s Instagram community have organised a competition to reward the best pictures of the show. All images posted on Instagram with the hashtag #casabatllo that refer to the different legends that will be unveiled in the projection will be entered into the competition. Each participant may upload as many photos as they want until the October 28 at 22:00. A jury will select the three winning photos, which will be rewarded with unique products and a tour of the Casa Batlló. You can take a look the competition terms here.
