An exhibition that shows how more than 80 Spanish merchant ships were sunk by German submarines.
Museu Marítim de Barcelona presents a new temporary exhibition: Stop the ship! The attacks of the Spanish Merchant Navy during the first World War (1914-1918) available to visit until May 29, an exhibition that shows how despite its neutrality, more than 80 Spanish merchant ships were sunk by German submarines, which were considered to transport certain goods that helped the economy war of the allies.
The exhibition shows objects of the collection from the archive of the museum and some documents loaned by other museums, archives and institutions: such as the Naval Museum in Madrid, the library of Universitat de Barcelona, MNAC, the Spanish film library or images and videos donated by the German Bundesarchiv, all with the aim of transmitting how it was war in trade and the impact that had these facts in the society of the time.
