They say that smell is the sense that most unites us to the emotions we experience, more than any other sense. When we remember a scent in an instant we associate it with someone.
They say that smell is the sense that most unites us to the emotions we experience, more than any other sense. When we remember a scent in an instant we associate it with someone, somewhere or a certain childhood moment. If you want to discover new scents and board this trip through your memory, here’s your secret place.
This corner is filled with the scents of history. If you have been there you will certainly know where what I’m talking about. As usual, it is in our beloved Passeig de Gràcia, but it takes us to unexpected moments in history. There are certainly many places in Barcelona to worship ancient objects, art and historical moments, but this one is much more unique. There is a truly great mind that brought together this place, he wanted to pass on his wisdom to the public through a large collection of art.
Set in a beautiful modernist building, number 39, Passeig de Gràcia is a curious place that opened in mid 1961. If you love art and history it is definitely a place that will leave you perplexed and will sharpen your sense of smell.
If you are like me and your sense of smell is not your strongest point and you are more of a visual person, you will be pleasantly rewarded all the same. If it were not for it being hidden in the back of a shop, this corner would not be as secret as it is, but neither would it be as enigmatic or surprising.
As I think I have given you plenty of clues, all that’s left is for you to be detectives this summer and find this little oasis in the centre of Barcelona and, as always in my hidden corner, kept away from the masses that walk around Passeig de Gràcia.
