Remote Corners 3

This is a space for contemplation of contemporary art. An unusual fact is that its main entrance is on carrer Rosselló, but it is physically located on Passeig de Gràcia.

Choosing corners in Passeig de Gràcia is not easy, there’s so much to choose from that I never manage to decide. This time, the remote corner is a place that personally fascinates me and isn’t easy to find, so I am about to give you a few hints so that you can enjoy it. An unusual fact is that its main entrance is on carrer Rosselló, but it is physically located on Passeig de Gràcia.

It is a space for contemplation of contemporary art, and is a perfect White Cube in every sense. It is a white cube due to its minimalist aesthetic and spacious architecture devoted in its entirety to art. Part of this space is outdoors, and contains some sculptures while the other part is indoors and contains art, but it’s never permanent. It always changes its offerings and supports especially local artists and young artists.

In its vicinity we feel encased and wrapped in a place that could be futuristic. Its entrance is a long corridor with blue lights that guide us inward. Straight simple lines form this space and provide it with hundreds of shades that help us define the boundaries.

We might think that this is again a corner from the last century, but it was built in 2002 to extend the rest of the building, located right in the Quadrat d’Or [Golden Square] of the city and designed by the architect V. Artigas as the small sign on the facade lets us know. The building dates from 1898 and has got a modernist feel to it.

When you discover this corner, you can enjoy a wonderful art installation that is on right now and that was also recommended by us. This is the last clue. All that’s left is to start a new stroll along Passeig de Gràcia. I always discover something new, so I encourage you to find out which place it is.
