It might seem that Paseo de Gracia doesn’t have any havens of peace left because its incessant activity doesn’t allow for quiet contemplation. However, if you are capable of finding such spots, you will enjoy them very much.
I am at the city center, behind me is a building from 1898 where Ramón Casas once lived, a former clothing factory and currently a historical landmark of the city.
From here I can also enjoy the view of a world heritage building. All of this in the very same place. Difficult to believe. It amazes me to think of everything that has happened there over the years, and how thanks to conservations efforts it is still a desired space. Being here you can get away from it all, noise, tourism, worries. It continues to be a place where you can feel the history, and you can even feel it’s a place where contemplation is still possible. It’s a little space where you can discover perfect objects, functional curiosities and endless objects of desire.
But I prefer staying here, where I can feel it without having to watch it. Plants and trees surround me, as does both modern buildings furniture and mosaics and structures from 125 years ago. Very few people dare to stay here and be a part of this awesome place for a few seconds from which I can see the Pedrera from another perspective and even reflect on the Gaudinian shapes, without noticing the long lines of photo cameras and people. From here I can appreciate the wonderful architecture designed by Antoni Rovira I Rabassa.
So, come on, leave a comment below and let’s see if you know where this place is. A place which takes you away from it all and provides you with a totally different perspective away from the hustle and bustle of the city despite being right in the middle of it.
