Putting the ‘Fiesta’ in ‘Fiestas de Gracia’
Festigabal presents free concerts by the best of the local scene.
Gracia’s Heliogabal is a local institution, that despite only fitting about 50 people in (at a push) has been a showcase for the cities best local bands (and some of the world’s best experimental groups) for as long as we can remember. The only problem is that most of the time you end up stuck behind a pillar, having to guess at what’s going on on the tiny stage. Every August however the bar takes over the nearby Plaza de Rovira y Trias for two days of free open air concerts as part of the local fiestas de gracia, and it is a thing of wonder.
This year’s highlights include local troubador Joan Colomo (really not as bad as that sounds), sleazy songster Joe Crepusculo and Mujeres, who are quite possibly the best rock and roll band in the world. Full info here.
