Ferran Adrià and elBulli. Risk, talent, and…
Discover the creative world of Ferran Adrià, the most influential chef of our time, in the first exhibition ever dedicated to a restaurant.
Since we learned that this retrospective on our most acclaimed and recognised chef was taking place, we’ve been anxiously waiting for the moment to come. Shortly after 18:00 on Tuesday, some of the team members from passeigdegracia.com were making the most of the event.
With the same enthusiasm shown at the debut of a new dish, Adrià and his team were eagerly awaiting the official get go. All was ready, a thorough job that took more than a year, which involved gathering the last 50 years of the most famous restaurant in the Costa Brava, El Bulli.
The exhibition “Ferran Adrià and elBulli. Risk, Freedom and Creativity” has been set up in room 3 at the Palau Robert and will be on until February 3rd, 2013. It consists of 10 chapters: Acknowledgements, elBullifoundation, Origins, Evolutionary Map, The Search for a Style, The Time of Major Change, Moment 0, The Consolidation of a Style, elBullivirus, and The Spirit of elBulli.
In each of the rooms, flooded with ideas, sketches, data, recipes and pictures, we step into the the creative and innovative world of a chef who has made the leap from kitchens to university classrooms, while being closely watched by international business research centres as prestigious as Berkeley or Harvard. A recognition complemented by receiving the Honoris Causa from the University of Barcelona (2007), the University of Aberdeen (2008), and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (2010).
The exquisite staging of this exhibition curated by Sebastià Serrano is the work of interior design studio headed by Olga Subirós. The graphic design is the work of Mario Eskenazi’s studio. It has been produced by the Generalitat de Catalunya with the support of private companies such as Estrella Damm, La Caixa and Telefónica, a public-private formula that teams up with the Palau Robert to bring about ambitious cultural awareness projects such as this one.
This native of l’Hospitalet de Llobregat would have never imagined that in the year of his fiftieth birthday he would be working on elBulliFoundation or that a retrospective on his creative work would be on show for a whole year. Congratulations for everything he’s achieved!
