While the common people use great pencils to write banners of protest against the government or tag shop shutters with little or any grace, there are people that do ART with capital letters. It is the case of the Japanese illustrator Yoshi Sislay, which has been able to convert the Vinçon Gallery in a kind of Chapel Sixtina of the 21st century with the only help of a black pencil and one ladder.
Born in Osaka in 1974, Yoshi Sislay established in Barcelona after travelling by more than thirty countries, in whose wanderings decided to turn into illustrator. Fruit of the accumulation of experiences and feelings personally experienced in his trips, has gone building a personal universe of curious creatures, beings and landscapes that now frees in his drawings and compositions with overhelming imagination. His works, most of them of ephemeral character, has been exhibited in the CCCB, the Centre of History of Zaragoza and in more than forty shop windows.
His last challenge has consisted in decorating the walls of the Vinçon Gallery with an uncommon graffiti in black and white plenty of histories, details and nuances. A work of alive and involving art, so ambitious and natural as his title indicates, that may be appreciated so much of far, in all his enormous group, as closely, discovering readings and different feelings with each new vision. Simply IT IS SPEC-TA-CU-LAR.
