Museum Night: Late-Night Culture
Once a year we get ready to go out on a Saturday night. But this isn't just any Saturday, it's time to party on in Barcelona's museums.
It’s amazing how time flies. It wasn’t that long ago that we were enjoying the 2011 edition of Museum Night [La Nit dels Museus] and look, here it is again! It’s the night in which more than 50 museums in all of Barcelona and its metropolitan area will be open until late at night for everyone to enjoy.
On Saturday 19, from 19:00 until 01:00, everyone will be able to visit and explore over a hundred exhibitions and collections, concerts, dance performances, video installations, guided tours and activities for the whole family. And all for free!
To make life easier when planning your route, this year Barcelona has been divided into 6 areas:
1 — From Montjuïc to Hospitalet
2 — From the Eixample to Gràcia
3 — From the Gothic quarter to the sea
4 — From Raval to the port
5 — Santa Coloma, Badalona, the Forum and Glòries
6 — Pedralbes, Esplugues and Cornellà
In each of them you can find out what museums will be open, their exact location and how you can reach them. If you prefer, you can download the PDF with all the information.
Also new this year is that you will be able to stay connected to Museum Night on your mobile phones. You only need to remember this hashtag #bcnesmuseu. With it you can share your night via Twitter, Instagram and Foursquare.
In fact the organisers have even set up a prize draw. If you share your experiences, photos and check-ins with the #bcnesmuseu hashtag, you’ll be entered into the draw for five sets of double tickets (each winning tweet will win a set) to visit, free of charge until 31 December the 52 participating museums. Not bad, right?
There is no doubt that Museum Night is a key event for those interested in culture. A magical night out that has to lived and enjoyed.
