GANDULES’12: Outdoor cinema
From August 7 to 24, the best independent films will be out in the open in the Pati de les Dones of the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona. 9 + 1 films for film-lovers with no agoraphobia.
Many people think of film-lovers as being obsessed with cinema and unable to look out to the world if not through the eyes of one cinematic genius or other. We imagine them socializing with like-minded individuals with whom they share obscure references after the credits in the midst of clouds of smoke and arrogance. Fortunately, it is time for another summer where the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) debunks the misanthrope film-lover myth with a new edition of Gandules.
From August 7 to 24, Gandules’12 brings out the film buffs in the open to enjoy nine films under the magnificent Barcelona sky. Despite having been acclaimed by critics and the general public at select festivals, the films have not yet enjoyed more mainstream screenings.Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 22:00 we will kneel before, or rather lie back relaxed with the talent of an exciting selection of international filmmakers in the Pati de les Dones of the CCCB.
To celebrate the 10th year of CCCB’s outdoor cinema, the festival has offered the public the opportunity to select the 10th film which will be screened at the festival’s closing. The chosen film was The Exterminating Angel by Luis Buñuel. I’m sure everyone will get the irony of watching its main characters, a group of Mexican aristocrats mysteriously trapped in a mansion, from the comfort of a chair outdoors.
