Fashion is also independent
Creativity and innovation are the concepts underlying the ninth edition of the 080 Barcelona Fashion Week.
This week is going to be a delightful one for many of us. Over the next few days, the word ‘fashion’ will fill our lives to the brim, and the reason is very simple: this week is not like any other, it’s the fashion week in Barcelona.
It’s catwalk season and those in charge of setting it off will be the designers and brands that are taking part in the 9th edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion, a reference show as far as new artists and independent fashion is concerned.
To strengthen the links between design, manufacturing, production and marketing or to promote the international textile, clothing and fashion of Catalunya are some of the objectives of this fashion show organised by the CCAM [Consortium for Commerce, Crafts and Fashion in Catalunya] and the Generalitat.
This edition, we will find both established brands and new talent in the industry: TCN, Josep Abril, Celia Vela, Karlotalaspalas, Montse Liarte, Alexis Reina, Justicia Ruano, Dermetropol, Toni Francesc, Who, Miriam Ponsa, Krizia Robustella, Desigual or Mango will be some of the 25 brands to hit the catwalk during the first few days. These brands will showcase their creations for the autumn/winter 2012-2013 season.
But the highlight will come on the last day of the fair. Italian haute couture will be present through Pierre Cardin, guest of honor at 080 Barcelona Fashion Week. The designer will close the event showing some pieces from his collection and giving a lecture to students of design and fashion schools. Who would not want to be one of the few fortunate enough to be there?
The catwalk shows will take place from January 25th to 28th in the Palau del Rey, in the Gothic Quarter. A show fit for a king indeed.
