D’A 2012: Auteur Film is here
The Barcelona International Auteur Film Festial is back with a new edition combining established names with new talent.
It’s here at last, only for a few days, but we’ll enjoy it all the same. D’A 2012, also known as the Barcelona International Auteur Film Festival 2012.
This year the festival has moved on to its second edition and it promises the same as the first: an alternative festival, a cool alternative festival, a really cool one where you’ll be able to see films before anyone else, or even films that will never be released. That’s right! Never to be released but for your very own eyes! We’re certain that you’ll be able to show off in front of people who are looking for something other than vampires or wizards learning spells. And, above all, you won’t feel “forever alone” any more thinking that you’re the only one that likes to see different types films. There are plenty more people just like you queuing up at the cinema!
But now let’s get to the point. D’A 2012 is divided into five sections. The main section, called Directions, includes the best auteur films of the year and by the biggest names in contemporary independent cinema. Another section is Talents, dedicated to the best works of new and emerging authors. Section Three: Claire Denis Retrospective, one of the best-kown directors in European independent film. All her films will be screened, as well as her latest medium-length film.
And finally we find two parallel sections: Absolut Risk, which includes daring works by young directors that working outside the industry, and Catalan Auteurs, which includes the best Catalan productions.
The festival will be on until 6 May and will be hosted at the Aribau Club 1 and 2 cinemas and at brand-new building of the Filmoteca de Catalunya.
You know what to do: take a look at the programme, pick what you like and go enjoy yourself!Tomorrow you can tell us all about it.
