Blood Donation Marathon in Barcelona
The Palau Robert is taking part in the 5th Blood Donation Marathon in Barcelona on January the 13th and 14th.
Because it just takes a moment. Because it can mean life or death for many patients. Because blood and its components have a limited lifespan. Because it is the only way to get blood. Because each donation can help up to three different people. Because every 3 seconds someone in Catalunya needs blood. Because once is not enough.
For all these reasons and many more, we encourage you to participate in the Blood Donation Marathon in Barcelona organised for the fifth year running by the Banc de Sang i Teixits [Blood and Tissue Bank] in collaboration with the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Barcelona City Council, the Diputació de Barcelona, the Red Cross and other civic organizations.
Under the slogan “Moltes gràcies” [Thank you very much], the marathon aims to refill the blood bank after the low reserves they usually end up with during the Christmas holidays. All locals who want to donate blood may do so on the 13th and 14th, from 10:00 to 21:00, at the Palau Robert, at the Diputació de Barcelona and donation centres in the Vall d’Hebron, Sant Pau and Clínic hospitals.
The organisers of this initiative want it to be a festive day, so a series of activities and events have been scheduled. The full list of events is available at www.donarsang.gencat.cat.
