Barcelona takes a stand against AIDS
More than twenty-two buildings in the city are given a red hue to take a stand against AIDS in a night that will host the second annual fund-raising gala.
A disease that affects more than 34 million people around the world must be taken very seriously. And so all of us at Passeigdegracia.com welcome any initiative that supports and promotes research to find a cure for this large outbreak that started in the 20th century.
Today, December 1st, marks the World AIDS Day and Barcelona joins the cause with the campaign Barcelona dóna la cara per la sida and Gala contra la sida, a fund-raising event that is now on its second edition. Both of them excellent opportunities to raise public awareness: AIDS is still here, it’s a serious disease and it’s still growing. Let’s not forget it.
The city also will also get a red makeover for twenty-two of its most emblematic buildings. The City Hall, the Caixafòrum, the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, the MACBA, the Liceu, the Foundació Suñol as well as the Casa Batlló, the Sagrada Familia and La Pedrera will all bear the colour red. Also some shopping centres like Gran Via 2 and las Arenas or hotels like the W, the Majestic or the Axel will change their hue just for tonight.
To finish off the night, we will once again have the fund-raising gala against AIDS. The Fundació Lluita contra la Sida (Fight against the AIDS Fund) will offer a charitable dinner at the W Hotel to raise funds for research.Like last year Miguel Bosé and Eugenia Silva will be the hosts of an event that will be attended by the President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Artur Mas, the mayor of Barcelona, Xavier Trias and well-known personalities on the national and international level such as Beatrice d’Orleans, Antonia Dell’Atte, David Delfín, Judit Mascó, Lucía Bosé, Ana de Armas, Bibiana Fernández and Manuel Fuentes among many others.
