Barcelona: Collecting Contemporary Art
The Francisco Godia Foundation is presenting a major exhibition of works by contemporary artists from private collections.
It’s not every day that you have the pleasure and the opportunity to enjoy some of the contemporary art that is in the hands of private collectors in Barcelona. The Francisco Godia Foundation wanted to dedicate a big exhibition to private collectors who these days seem to be cropping up quite a lot in Barcelona as would a garden in spring.
Barcelona Colecciona is an exhibition that includes 58 pieces, many of which are unpublished, which come from the private collections of Gabino Diego, Carmen Riera, José María Civit, Mago or Cristina Castañer, in addition to some pieces from the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA).
The exhibition is organised around nine key topics: minimalism, war, loneliness, expressionism, eroticism, space, architecture, femininity, body, tradition/innovation and matter. Each one of them includes video installations, sculpture, photography or painting.
In the various areas in the foundation you will find works signed by the leading Spanish and international artists of the modern and contemporary scene such as Dan Flavin, On Kawara, Anish Kapoor, Cristina Iglesias, Juan Muñoz, Paul McCarthy, Cindy Sherman, Bruce Nauman, Antoni Muntadas, Antoni Abad and Jaime Pitarch, among others.
Don’t miss the chance to see something that you may not able to see ever again. See you there!
